Which church should I go to?

All church congregations are different, even those that go by similar names, so it is good to consider a number of questions as you think about joining a church. Some of the following may be helpful.
- The
Bible, is it treated with honour as the Word of God, is it
read, and taught, and considered as the basis of faith and
conduct?
- Is Prayer taught and practised, is it important
in the church and the lives of the members?
- Are their
Relationships good, are they welcoming to new-comers, do they
love each other, are they friends?
- How do they relate to
Children and Teenagers, are they welcomed, and encouraged, and
made to feel part of the whole?
- Is the church involved in
Mission, do they reach out into their community and the world
and support those who do, does it co-operate with other local
churches?
- Is the Worship real and honouring to God
(whatever style it takes)?
- Does it encourage it's members
to be active, taking part, using their gifts and talents for God,
will there be opportunity for you to make a contribution?
- Is it
local? - it is much easier to be involved in the life of your
church if you live reasonably near it.
- Is it where God wants
you to be? - have you asked Him?
Remember, many differences between churches are cultural. You may choose a church where you feel at home without thinking that others have got it wrong. Also, no church is perfect. When difficulties arise plan to work through and resolve them as far as you can without being too eager to run away to the next church down the road. Prepare to be committed and take a long view.
