What is Introducing Jesus?

IntroducingJesus.Org exists as an attempt to create a web site to which those who are interested in knowing something about Jesus can safely be directed.

Here we aim to describe the traditional, Biblical account of who Jesus is, why he lived and died and rose again, and how having a personal relationship with the living God through Jesus is both possible, reasonable and beneficial.

We aim to do it in clear, simple yet direct language that the majority of English speaking people, with little or no Christian experience will be able to understand.

Who is behind the project?

Nigel Freestone is the principle author and web-master. He originally conceived the idea of IntroducingJesus following a discussion with friends about Christian sites on the internet. Nigel has been a Christian for about forty years. He has held a number of positions of responsibility including Sunday school teacher, home group leader, deacon and moderator and, more recently, running Alpha courses. He preaches fairly regularly as a lay preacher with the London Baptist Association.

Nigel was first involved in evangelism in the late 1960's as part of a Christian rock group called 'The Empty Tomb' for which he was lead singer. His singing style was described by a friend as "a rough version of Mick Jagger". Nigel is a self-employed computer consultant; and enjoys supporting his local rugby club, cycling and astronomy.

Council of Reference

Nigel is supported by a council of reference who vet material proposed for incorporation in the site.

Rev Peter Farley Moore is the vicar of St John the Evangelist, an Anglican parish church in Blackheath, London, England.

Rev Mike Marshall is the chaplain, and a teacher, at Bishop's Stortford College, Hertford, England.

Rev Mike Leader is part of the leadership team a Charlton & Blackheath Christian Fellowship, London, England.

What others say

"I warmly commend introducingjesus.org as an innovative, clear, accurate and practical way of doing exactly what it says – introducing Jesus. There is no doubt that Jesus remains the central figure of history and that today He is central to the lives of billions of Christians. People searching for answers to the great questions of life as well as those who simply want to deepen their understanding of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus would do well to log on to introducingjesus.org."

Lyndon Bowring - Chairman of CARE, Christian Action Research and Education
“Nigel Freestone’s presentation of the message of Christianity, in IntroducingJesus.org, is clear, simple, interdenominational, historic, authentic Christianity presented in a straight forward manner with accurate research being easily grasped and yet communicating the profundity of the Christian Faith.”

Roger Forster - Leader of Ichthus Christian Fellowship

Why .ORG?

Dot-ORG is the recognised extension for a 'Not for Profit' domain name. At no time while viewing the IntroducingJesus.Org web site will you be asked for money, or offered goods for sale by us (although we may carry links to other sites who do offer goods for sale). You will not be asked for your personal details, we will not contact you, and you will not be asked to join any particular organisation.

We respect your right to make up your own mind about who Jesus is and what form your relationship with him will take. However, we do state without apology that we believe Jesus is the Son of the living God and the only Saviour of the world, and that knowing Him is (to say the least) a very good idea. Which is why we are IntroducingJesus to you.

What we believe

The following Statement of Faith is here mainly for the benefit of fellow Christians, and others, who want some idea of what those of us who created this site say we believe.

As Evangelical Christians we accept the revelation of the triune God given in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and confess the historic faith of the Gospel expressed there.

We here assert doctrines that we regard as crucial to the understanding of the faith, and which should result in mutual love, practical Christian service and evangelistic concern.
